Wedding Photography
It was the development of digital photography from 2000 onwards that prompted me to become a professional wedding photographer in 2003. Up till then I had been involved with photography in my design work, but had never worked solely as a professional photographer. I was lucky to assist some experienced wedding photographers to learn the ropes before eventually launching out on my own. I found I was able to handle a small selection of weddings every year without compromising my day job in design. From 2008 onwards my focus changed away from weddings, but I did enjoy the five years I spent doing it. Although wedding photography can be demanding and sometimes stressful (for both the photographer and client) they are generally happy, celebratory events to photograph.
