Artwork and retouching

The following images are examples of professional projects that required skills in digital art, retouching, photography and design.

BBC Panorama on Gene Editing: I shot this view of the atrium in the Crick Institute in London to accommodate the visualisation of a giant symbolic human figure standing within it. A computer animated sequence was later created showing a DNA double helix winding upwards around the figure.

London snow scene (below). Retouching work can be a time consuming process when a high resolution image of Piccadilly Circus in summer needs to be meticulously converted into a winter scene with snow.

Rooftop Car promo: The opposite situation here: I was asked to remove the snow in this image below (1). A more complementary arrangement of artworked skyline buildings, cleaner rooftop surface and a better looking car were also required (2).

Science Fiction street: The opening titles to a science fiction series required a scene of a young couple walking down an unidentifiable street towards a distant earth floating in the twilight sky. I shot some wide angle views of different buildings in Tottenham Court Road in London to create the street perspective. The couple were shot against blue screen and were keyed into the final composite scene in post-production.

BBC Golf promo: A key scene in this broadcast promo required finding a wider view of St Andrews golf course clubhouse that matched the perspective seen in some old BBC archive footage (see inset in frame 1) I created a retro poster design out of the wider clubhouse view so that it evolved seamlessly out of the archive footage (2)

I won a Fujifilm Digital Retoucher of the Year award in 2003 for this image showing dynamic tyre grip in wet conditions.
