Mark Richards FRSS
In 2019 I was commissioned to photograph the sculptor Mark Richards at work in his studio in Ludlow and a selection of his notable figurative public sculptures in England and Ireland. I like working with creative people and craftsmen. Mark's studio is a familiar place to me. It reminded me of my art college days and a time I used to work with model makers in the broadcast industry.
Shooting public sculptures requires a mix of architectural and portrait techniques. The sculpture (above) of Shackleton in Athy, Ireland looked at it's best when it came out of the shadow of the museum building alongside it at mid afternoon.
